Hillside Special School is a very successful school for pupils with a wide range of complex needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism (ASD).

We are seeking to appoint a talented and highly motivated Teacher to cover maternity leave. The age range is 4 to 19 years and you may be required to work with pupils of any age and ability.

You will:

  • put the needs and wellbeing of the pupils at the forefront of everything you do
  • have a truly positive attitude
  • be methodical in your approach and have outstanding organisation skills
  • be tactful conscientious and discreet when dealing with challenging situations
  • be flexible adaptable and able to multitask
  • demonstrate a commitment to maintaining outstanding levels of safeguarding
  • have patience and the ability to stay calm and positive
  • be driven and have a commitment to continuous personal development and school improvement
  • be emotionally and physically resilient
  • have a passion for teaching pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Complex Autism (ASD)
  • have excellent communication skills work cooperatively and develop positive relationships with pupils families and staff at all levels
  • work with a team to deliver outstanding teaching and learning to our pupils
  • be confident in the use of IT
  • have a good sense of humour.
