Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current students pursuing a masters level degree in Communications Health Communications Marketing Public Relations or closely related field

Prior work experience or internship preferred

Graphic Design experience a plus

Excellent computer skills and knowledge of current software application (MS Office Word Excel)

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Excellent interpersonal skills with polite and clear communication with all people

Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize tasks

Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail

Strong computer skills

Excellent writing skills

Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues

Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Center for Community Health and Health Equity (CCHHE) at Brigham and Womens Hospital serves as the coordinating department for community health programs and acts as a liaison for communitybased organizations and the hospital. The mission of CCHHE is to advance systems of care and community health strategies to eliminate health disparities and elevate the health status of the communities served by BWH.

CCHHE collaborates with hospital departments including clinical and research areas and works in partnership with external organizations and communitybased groups in addressing the social determinants of individual and community health.

Reporting to the Director of Community Health Operations and Projects the Communications Intern will work collaboratively with the communications team on the creation and development of quality communication messages and material that will help advance the Centers communications goal and demonstrate its programs impact. This position will include writing editing research and design and layout management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include:

Assist with the design and layout of the CCHHE annual report

Plans develop and edit communication for print and webbased media

Assist with the creation of an editorial/events calendar for the Center

Identify appropriate stories and work with the BWH Department of Public Affairs on disseminating relevant stories via social media

Support the development editing and marketing of communications products such as newsletters blog posts web pages

Maintains communications graphics photographs and audio files
