The Opportunity
The Empower program is a fullday six week camp for youth in Grades 810 which exposes them to a variety of STEM fields & pathways. This is done through a variety of workshops trips and leadership opportunities to boost youths career skills readiness & development.
Position Overview
As a Program Facilitator for Empower you will be responsible for working with team members and stakeholders to implement innovative STEMbased initiatives and content that yield increased skillbased knowledge social emotional learning for children and youth in this program.
We are looking for individuals who are confident working with lowincome and racialized communities and have a strong command of facilitation. Individuals should be passionate about improving the lives of youth within communities. This position works alongside program coordinators and reports to the various project leads including program managers or directors depending on the initiative.
Position Details
- Contract Type/Term: Seasonal Hourly FullTime Contract.
- Note: During May and June work hours may vary and be less than 35 hours per week to accommodate training and program preparation. Fulltime hours 3540 hours per week) will begin in July and continue through August for the duration of the youth program.

- Up to 35 hours/week Monday to Friday
- Please note: A mandatory summer showcase will take place on Saturday August 16/23 2025.
- Job Location(s): InPerson central programming location near Regent Park.

- Salary: $23.15 CAD/hr

Major Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
Program Delivery & Facilitation
- Plan and lead interactive STEMbased workshops for youth (Grades 810 using inquirybased learning approaches.
- Create a welcoming inclusive space that encourages active participation and fosters social emotional and academic development.
- Support the design and implementation of lesson plans in collaboration with program staff.
- Supervise and mentor participants ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Support youth in showcasing their learning and career experiences to peers and community members at the end of summer youth showcase.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Build strong relationships with program participants families school staff and community partners.
- Foster leadership teamwork and selfadvocacy skills among youth encouraging them to take ownership of their learning and educational/professional development.
- Promote leadership teamwork and selfadvocacy skills among youth.
- Engage in outreach efforts to ensure diverse participation and meaningful impact.
Program Coordination & Administration
- Track programrelated expenses and support logistical needs (e.g. packing/restocking inventory).
- Collect and analyze participant feedback through surveys and focus groups.
- Assist in program documentation and reporting.
- Represent Visions of Science at community events and public events supporting program visibility and stakeholder engagement.
What Were Looking For
Education & Training
- Currently pursuing or holding a degree in STEM education social work child/youth care or a related field (preferred)
Experience & Expertise
- At least one 1 year of facilitation experience with Visions of Science or two 2 years of experience in community programming focused on youth from lowincome/marginalized communities.
- Experience in curriculum development lesson planning and handson workshop facilitation.
- Strong behavior management interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to ensure a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in diverse communitybased settings.

Additional Asset(s)
- Lived experience from lowincome and/or racialized communities.
- A G license and access to a vehicle.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector and knowledge of the challenges faced by youth in underserved communities.
