Job Description

The 3D Imaging Lab in the department of Radiology is searching for a software developer with experience in medical imaging who will work on research and development of image analysis software. Under the supervision of the Lab director the Group manager and the higher level staff members the developer will carry out a broad range of software development for volumetric image analysis of tumors and organs on the 3D Quantitative Imaging 3DQI inhouse) platform which requires knowledge and skill on medical image processing algorithm design software development and software evaluation. The Software Developer takes primary responsibility for the development testing release maintenance support and documentation of clinical applications developed on 3DQI platform.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop software for volumetric image processing: As part of a software development team the Developer will develop clinical applications for quantitative image analysis on Windows platform using tools such as C ITK VTK DCMTK. The working duties requires knowledge and skill on image segmentation image registration texture analysis surface reconstruction quantitative image analysis as well as DICOM image transfer and user interface.

2. Support users in use of 3DQI platform: The Developer will compile install and debug software and subsequent revisions and conduct trial runs of software evaluation write documents and instructions for clinical use of the software work with radiologists and clinicians to test the software review the research data and interpret resulting data for newly developed software.

3. Study stateoftheart image processing algorithms and software development tools: The Developer will investigate new imageprocessing tools and techniques such as new image segmentation algorithms and provide recommendations on incorporating new technologies for software development.

4. Maintain quality software development: This requires knowledge of software quality management programming standards and best practices software version control and compliance.

5. Maintain a basic understanding of medical image processing: This requires knowledge of image processing quantitative image analysis tomographic reconstruction and medical terminology.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Expertise in image processing such as image segmentation image registration surface reconstruction and computeraided diagnosis (CADx).
  • Strong in software development using C on Windows .NET development environment.
  • Familiar with DICOM imaging format DCMTK ITK and VTK.
  • Skill in configuring and installing Windows software on PC/Network environment.
  • Knowledge of radiological sciences and medical physics.
  • Work independently and be selfmotivated be responsive to the reactive environment of an evolving research and development team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters required PhD preferred
  • FiveYear experience in an image processing laboratory/company as a Software Developer using C in the Microsoft .Net development environment along with ITK VTK or equivalent imaging processing packages required
  • Experience in development of clinical applications and knowledge in DICOM image transfer are preferred.
