The Department of Politics at Pomona College invites applications for a oneyear fulltime Visiting Assistant Professor for theacademic year. The position requires strong teaching credentials in American Politics. Ability to teach Political Theory a plus. The teaching load is five courses. Applicants will be expected to teach Introduction of American Politics in addition to other offerings. All interviews will be conducted by Zoom.
THE INSTITUTION:
Pomona College is a highly selective liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 1700 students all undergraduates. Pomona College located 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles is the founding member of the Claremont Colleges which also include Claremont McKenna Scripps Pitzer Harvey Mudd and Claremont Graduate University. Collectively the Claremont Colleges constitute an academic community of approximately 6500 students. As a result Pomona students enjoy both the personalized instruction and close facultystudent interactions afforded by a small liberal arts college as well as the intellectual and extracurricular resources typically found at much larger universities. Pomonas Politics department has 12 fulltime tenured or tenuretrack faculty. In collaboration with the Claremont Colleges Consortium Pomona College offers many professional development mentorship and networking opportunities for visiting faculty.
QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Political Science and teaching experience. Advanced doctoral students with teaching experience will also be considered.

Total compensation includes a benefits package and salary. Compensation for this position starts at $75800 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for travel and moving expenses. Employment is contingent upon providing proof of the legal right to work in the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 for the duration of the contract July 1 2025 until June 30 2026.
