This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is located in Raleigh NC Wake County.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).


This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 225 N. McDowell Street Raleigh NC 27603.

The RESPNet Epidemiologist Position is in the Communicable Disease Branch (CDB) at the North Carolina Division of Public Health. The person in this position will work within the Respiratory Disease Surveillance program and with partners at CDC and CSTE to conduct a populationbased hospitalization surveillance project for influenza Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and COVID19. The epidemiologist will oversee data collection and reporting for this project including the following responsibilities:
  • Support epidemiologists from North Carolina Public Health Epidemiologist Network (PHEs) to complete project activities
  • Act as the project point of contact between hospitals CDB and CDC and provide administrative oversight technical assistance and consultation to agenciesand individuals working within the context of the project
  • Maintain project databases and assist in producing reports for internal and external audiences
  • Use management tools systems and procedures to document and report progress
  • Develop evaluation materials including processes for case ascertainment and data audit

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Masters degree in Epidemiology or closely related health field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
