This is a nonunion positionThe Senior Advisor Crude Oil Accounting is responsible for operational and financial accounting analysis of results settlement of commodity transactions and adherence of policies and procedures in the Tidal USA Crude Oil Accounting Department.
Tidal Energy Marketing is comprised of 4 business units (BU): Tidal Canada Oil & NGLs Tidal Canada Natural Gas Tidal Canada Power and Tidal US Oil. Each BU is supported by a team of finance/accounting professionals who perform accounting commodity settlements reporting and control functions.

Interface with Crude Oil Marketers/Traders to stay up to date on the daytoday business and changes in market.
Work closely with immediate finance/accounting team to ensure deliverables and timelines are met.
Participate in the training and development of the team as well as advise on solutions to nonroutine transactions.
Support monthend reporting activities and monthly commodity settlements cycle.
Develop effective and efficient solutions as the business evolves and grows.
Ensure timely settlement of commodity (crude oil) transactions including tolls and broker invoices.
Analyze and account for realized derivatives inventory normalization adjustments for derivatives and nonroutine transactions.
Analysis and verification of revenue cost of sales and margins.
Ensure accuracy of intercompany accounting/tieouts.
Verifies accuracy of tolls/tariffs and shipper balances and commodity settlements.
Prepares and inputs transactions into general ledger.
Assist in the development and maintenance of operational and financial reporting processes
Detailed analytical support to Front Office/Traders
Analysis to Corporate Financial Reporting and external Auditors
Analyze adhoc data using Essbase and other analytical tools to explain front office results
University degree in a related financial discipline (accounting finance or financial risk management).
Professional accounting designation or equivalent.
6 or more years of progressive working experience in a finance/accounting environment.
Effective communicator who can collaborate with colleagues outside of finance
Strong commercial focus with an understanding of commodity trading and experience interacting with Traders/Marketers.
Demonstrated strong analytical abilities and willingness to learn and grow in new areas.
Demonstrated ability to organize and execute projects aimed at enhancing financial and system processes.
Working knowledge of financial reporting oil marketing and risk systems would be considered an asset (Oracle/Smartview/Egistix/OpenLink)
