Over the past 24 years we have directly invested in more than 47000 changemakers across 188 countries who in turn have improved the lives of millions of people in their communities and countries.

Today Vital Voices has a staff of nearly 100 headquartered in Washington DC. Weve recently been working to dramatically scale our impact in accordance with our bold vision. In early 2022 we opened the first ever Global Headquarters for Womens Leadership a 30000 sq. ft. historic building just blocks from the White House on 16th Street. It is a hub of activity events and collaborations bringing together women leaders and their allies to tackle the worlds greatest challenges.

Summary

The Events Intern will work directly under the supervision and guidance of the Director Events. This position will be responsible for assisting with the planning and day of event logistics. This role is based in Washington DC with the option of a hybrid work schedule.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Event Coordination:Support event coordination for internal and external events. Liaise with catering vendors security and operations to ensure a smooth process that follows standard operating procedures.
  • Event Day of Coordination: Serve as a day of coordinator for events at VVHQ. Manage event logistics and serve as a central point of contact for day of operations.
  • Global Leadership Awards: Support the full planning process for the annual Global Leadership Awards. Attend meetings and follow up on action items process vendor invoices and contracts serve as a main point of contact for event participants manage guest lists and communication with guests and work closely across internal departments to facilitate event progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Majoring in Business Administration International Studies/Relations/Affairs Hospitality or other relevant fields;
  • Strong demonstrated interest in global womens issues;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks swiftly shift priorities and work in a fastpaced environment with tight deadlines sometimes under difficult or challenging circumstances;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and selfawareness;
  • Experience with Classy (event software) Canva and Mailchimp preferred;
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends as needed;
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel Word and PowerPoint) social networking tools and database software (i.e. Salesforce).

The stipend for this 10week position is $3000 based on a 3040 hour work week and will be paid in 2 increments throughout the program. For part time interns the stipend is $1500 and based on a 1520 hour work week. This role will begin May 27th and run through August 2nd 2025. Candidates with the flexibility to extend the internship August 11 October 18 in a parttime or fulltime capacity is desired. Due to the nature of events flexibility in scheduling (including some nights and/or weekends) is required.

The internship program is a hybrid position and requires at minimum 1 day in our DC office per week for parttime interns and 2 days in office for fulltime interns. Preference will be given to interns that can be present at VVHQ at least 3 days per week due to the volume of in person events.
