Job Description
Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a driven SeniorLevel Cyber Software Engineer to research and implement innovative solutions for a bestinclass secure computing environment as part of a highly adaptable rapid prototyping and development group in Landover MD.
The ideal candidate will possess prior experience leading a minimum of three successful smalltomedium size projects. The candidate shall posses strong knowledge of C/C and experience developing software for and configuring Linux.
Our program provides support for a large Information Technology (IT) system for the Department of Defense (DoD). This program provides engineering support for all system elements including development (hardware software and networks) systems and security engineering (integration testing and deployment) sustainment (logistics and field support) Network Operations Center (NOC)/Help Desk and government user training support for the user community.
The SeniorLevel Cyber Software Engineer responsibilities include:
- Mentoring and leading junior and midlevel engineers to build proofs of concept for oneofakind capabilities.
- Performing peer testing and code review.
- Troubleshooting and debugging issues.
- Contributing to all levels of the architecture.
- Maintaining technical documentation.
- Developing a familiarity with new tools and best practices.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and further implementation of best practices in software development unit testing agile scrum and DevSecOps.
- Assisting team leadership with agile scrum master duties.
- Collaborating with your team to author technical reports and demonstrate capabilities to both internal and external stakeholders.
**This role requires onsite support MonFri**
**This program allows for a flexible work schedule and is walking distance from a Metro station**
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI security clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain a US security clearance.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering or another technical field with eight 8 years of related experience; or a masters degree with six 6 years of related experience; or a PhD with three 3 years of related experience; or a High School Diploma / GED with twelve 12 years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of a completed degree.
- Active Security Certification or equivalent or the ability to obtain one within 6 months from start date.
- Strong knowledge of C/C.
- Experience developing software for and configuring Linux and/or Unix systems.
- Demonstrated experience writing testing and debugging software.
- Demonstrated experience leading a minimum of three successful smalltomedium size projects.
- Experience with version control issue tracking and documentation tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Desired Qualifications:
- An active/current TS/SCI U.S. security clearance.
- Active Security Certification.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Linux development experience at both user and kernel levels.
- Experience modifying and compiling large opensource codebases.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Experience with DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins SonarQube Coverity etc.
- Experience with dnf package management using local repositories.

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Peratons total compensation package for employees.
