About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI)Houston office is looking for an experiencedProject Engineer Civilto join our Team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality responsiveness and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. As the Project Engineer Civil you will have the opportunity to growand showcase their talents byworking closely with the Project Manager to develop design concepts that are incorporated into a final product and support the relationship with the client in this highly visible position. Work is conducted in a team environment and coordinated with other disciplines and with periodic visits to construction sites as projects require. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and interprets various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Assists in handling contract administration with clients and subconsultants.
  • Assists in the review and preparation of engineering agreements for projects.
  • Assists Project Design and/or Office Managers as requested.
  • Attends client and public meetings as necessary.
  • Coordinates staff activities to ensure project budget schedule and quality goals are achieved.
  • Ensures that project documents and files are organized.
  • May assist in client invoicing and monitor outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on projects.
  • May serve as an onsite project representative and/or provide construction observation duties in the field. *Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
  • May sign and seal assigned projects and project documents selfprepared or under direct supervision.
  • Monitors workinprocess and assists in directing and/or supervising the work of other engineers activities on projects.
  • Prepares and presents technical information to colleagues and clients.
  • Prepares complex design computations plans and related construction documents.
  • Prepares complex quantity and cost estimates.
  • Prepares complex reports studies and permits for various projects.
  • Prepares engineering and design documents using computerassisted engineering and design software and equipment.

  • Minimum 5 years of experiencein highway and roadway and/or drainage.
  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering
  • Active Texas Professional Engineer license.
  • Familiarity with Harris County
  • TXDOT experience

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers handle or feel objects tools or controls; climb; reach with hands and arms; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Conditions
  • IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable drivers record.
  • Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites have good handeye coordination and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or inprogress construction hazards: fumes toxic chemicals risk of electric shock and vibration. Often works around dust asphalt and concrete.
  • Sometimes needs to put in extra hours including weekends to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
  • Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
  • Usually works a standard 40hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
  • Usually works in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job the employee may occasionally work outdoors in various weather conditions possibly for an extended period of time depending on the assignment type. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. The noise level on the construction site is often loud and may require the use of hearing protection.
