Job Description

We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable individual to join our Health Center team as a Resident Companion. As a Resident Companion you will play a vital role in supporting our residents by providing assistance and companionship. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in someones day while working in a supportive and caring environment.

RiverMead is a notforprofit fullservice LifeCare Community in Peterborough New Hampshire. As a fullservice community we offer various services and amenities to our residents and the opportunity to work in a caring and supportive environment.

We have a $1.50 perhour weekend differential that runs from Friday at 5:00 PM to Sunday at midnight.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Resident Companions provide oneonone support and companionship to Health Center residents during transportation to and from offsite appointments.

Duties include:

  • Accompanying residents to appointments using RiverMeads transportation or other transportation arranged by the resident or family.

  • Offering assistance with outerwear such as coats and hats before and after appointments.

  • Ensuring resident comfort and safety throughout the duration of the trip.

  • Communicating respectfully and clearly with residents families and healthcare providers.

This is a per diem position. Shifts will be scheduled in advance but may occur at varying times during the week depending on appointment needs.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum six 6 months of experience working with or around the elderly population.
  • CPR certification required (Certification can be obtained after employment begins)
  • Takes oral and written instruction well.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages especially the geriatric population.
  • Ability to remain calm in all types of situations including emergencies.
