Reporting to Dr. Ramnik Xavier Director of the Center for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (CSIBD) at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard the Science Writer will lead efforts in compiling copyediting writing proofreading and formatting scientific content for program development scientific manuscripts and visual presentations intended to support the clinical and research goals of the Center.
The Science Writer position requires a doctorate in a scientific field as well as a broad base of skills in project management copy writing and editing and multimedia content production.
Proficiency with graphic design software (preferably Adobe Illustrator) and a publication record in scientific journals are also required.
Writing editing proofreading and formatting of scientific content for scientific manuscripts grant applications and progress reports
Preparing PowerPoint slides for presentations at scientific conferences and leadership meetings Preparing scientific illustrations; assembling and organizing data into figures for scientific presentations publications and grant applications
Assisting CSIBD investigators with the compilation review and management of information pertaining to descriptions of facilities and resources available to investigators research progress reports biographical sketches and other written materials required to support Center activities
Managing scientific communications with Center collaborators summarizing action items and managing data from collaborations
Corresponding with editors and professional staff of scientific journals to ensure manuscript submission requirements are met and submissions for publication are complete
