Job Description
Teachers at theArlington School are responsible for providing academic instruction to studentsin grades 912 in the content area of their certification. The primaryfocus of the Art Teacher position is to design and implement a high school studioart curriculum. Theprovision of incidental counseling and milieu management is an integral part ofthis position as is collaboration with colleagues inother disciplines. Teachers participate in the development of IEPs implementIEPs in the classroom and provide documentation of student progress. Teachers also participate in a variety ofother academic and staff development activities.
Additionalresponsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Organizing annual artsevents for the school community
- Participation in artsevents outside of the school community
- Assisting students whoare developing portfolios for submission to art school or other visual artsprograms
- Working with otherteachers to create interdisciplinary courses
- Assisting with planningand organizing the Visiting Artists program
Candidates must have a verystrong visual arts background and be licensed in either Visual Arts or SpecialEducation. Masters level coursework in related fields preferred.
