*Job Title: Lathe Machine Operator*
*Summary:*
The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up operating and maintaining lathe machines to fabricate modify or repair parts and components made from various materials. This role requires precision attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Machine Setup:* Prepare and configure lathe machines including selecting the appropriate tools setting speeds and calibrating machinery to meet production specifications.
*Operation:* Operate lathe machines to produce parts according to blueprints sketches or specific instructions. Monitor the machining process to ensure quality and accuracy.
*Quality Control:* Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g. calipers micrometers) to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality standards. Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.
*Maintenance:* Perform routine maintenance on lathe machines such as cleaning lubricating and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
*Safety:* Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
*Documentation:* Maintain accurate records of production including material usage machine settings and finished parts. Complete any required documentation for quality control and inventory purposes.
*Collaboration:* Work closely with engineers supervisors and other team members to troubleshoot issues improve processes and achieve production goals.
*Qualifications:*
*Experience:* Prior experience as a lathe operator or in a similar machining role is preferred.
*Technical Skills:* Proficiency in operating manual and/or CNC lathes. Knowledge of various materials and machining techniques.
*Attention to Detail:* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
*ProblemSolving:* Strong problemsolving skills to address machining issues and make precise adjustments.
*Physical Requirements:* Ability to stand for extended periods lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.
*Safety Awareness:* Knowledge of and commitment to following workplace safety standards and practices.
*Education:*
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a vocational or technical training program in machining or a related field is a plus.
*Working Conditions:*
Work is performed in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
May involve exposure to noise dust and other industrial elements.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses gloves and ear protection may be required.
