CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST I/II

In addition to performancebased merit increases this position is scheduled to receive a salary range increase on the following date:

SALARY INFORMATION

Clinical Psychologist I $51.49 $57.40 Hourly

Clinical Psychologist II $57.40 $63.97 Hourly

Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above based on position requirements and successful candidates qualifications subject to appropriate authorization.

Under the leadership of the Agency Director a dynamic executive team with an organizational structure comprised of five 5 service areas Administrative Services Behavioral Health Services Correctional Health Services Specialized Medical Services and Public Health Services is committed to meeting the health needs of the diverse Orange County community.

THE DEPARTMENT
The
Behavioral Health Services (BHS)Division consists of the following service areas Adult and Older Adult Behavioral Health Children and Youth Services Quality Management Services Mental Health Services Act Office Data Analytics and Evaluation Crisis and Acute Care Services Substance Use Services and Forensics and Justice Involved. These service areas provide a culturally competent and clientcentered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health care.

THE PROGRAMS
Children and Youth Services(CYS) provides outpatient behavioral health services to MediCal eligible or uninsured children and youth who need medically necessary treatment to ameliorate their mental and behavioral health conditions. CYS provides case management assessment individual group and family therapy psychological testing psychiatric evaluation and medication support and therapeutic behavioral services to children and youth in Orange County.

Forensics and Justice Involved Divisionprovides oversight evaluation and treatment for all of the mental health justice involved for Orange County. This includes Collaborative Courts AOT Mental Health Diversion AB109 & Reentry Assisted Intervention Court Whatever It Takes collaborative court and Recovery Court/Opportunity Court CONREP LantermanPetrisShort (LPS) Psychology Unit SB317 Incompetent to Stand Trial Diversion unit CARE Court and Early Access and Stabilization Services.


The immediate vacancies are within CYS and the Forensics and Justice Involved divisions.

CYS offers a range of vital services to children and adolescents in Orange County including case management assessment individual and family therapy group therapy psychological testing psychiatric evaluations medication support and peer support. This role will be based in either the Clinical Evaluation and Guidance Unit (CEGU) Orangewood or CEGU Probation focusing on justice involved youth or youth involved in the child welfare system. In this position youll work directly with children teens and their families providing support through these diverse services. Your goal will be to help these young individuals develop essential skills for thriving in their communities while addressing the challenges they face.

The Clinical Psychologist position withing the SB317 program in the Forensics and Justice Involved division conducts placement evaluation for Misdemeanor Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST). The county provides placement evaluations to determine appropriateness for Diversion Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) CARE Conservatorship or a Modified Treatment plan. This role includes interfacing with C58 attending court meetings and following up with Misdemeanor IST individuals when applicable. The position requires court testimony as well as participation in treatment team meeting with the court.

The Clinical Psychologist position in Care Court program in the Forensics and Justice Involved division provides Expert Witness testimony to Superior Courts on mental health and grave disability issues brought to the court on behalf of the County of Orange. This LPS Psychologist role specifically involves evaluating individuals for Murphy Conservatorships with evaluations typically conducted at correctional or state hospital facilities. The Psychologist must be knowledgeable in court protocols case development and strategy and must be able to explain psychotropic medications in laymans terms. They will need to testify in both bench and jury trials and collaborate closely with the Public Guardians Office of the County of Orange. An understanding of risk and dangerousness assessments mental health law and expert court testimony experience is preferred. Additionally the Psychologist will need to produce reports that integrate developmental and clinical factors using evidencebased assessment tools for evaluating competence to stand trial and assess dangerousness.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual speakers are highly desirable but not required. In addition the candidate must demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas below:

  • Documenting services provided to participants compliant with the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) requirements (standards) for MediCal billing and reimbursement
  • Effective communication as well as adeptly communicating sensitive matters
  • Presenting ideas and complex material clearly concisely logically and persuasively both in person and in writing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a license to practice Psychology by the California Board of Psychology or be eligible to obtain a waiver from the State of California to practice psychology pending obtaining their license.
