The Economics Division at the FCA provides rigorous analysis to support evidencedriven decisions ensuring financial services markets work well. Highquality analysis fosters trust and enables the taking of proportionate regulatory risks.
What will you be doing
Senior leadership:Key member of Senior Leadership Team of 90 Economists
Team Leadership: Lead a team of Economists in analysing key economic issues and developing a crossFCA research agenda in a fluid and at times ambiguous operating environment
Research Oversight:Commission and oversee a mix of short and longterm research and advice potentially resulting in publications
Collaboration:Work with teams across the FCA domestic and international forums (e.g. FPC FSB IOSCO) and the wider regulatory family (BoE PRA HMT); engage with the FCA Executive Committee and Board
Policy Support:Provide agile support to policy and decisionmaking forums within the FCA
Networking:Develop and use a personal network within the FCA finance academia and Whitehall
Adaptability:Flex role and role of team to be responsible to evolving needs for economic analysis at the FCA
What will you get from the role
Lead a highprofile team of approximately 10 Economists to address strategic questions on capital markets and how financial services more broadly support economic growth productivity and international competitiveness.
Collaborate across the FCA academia and the wider regulatory family to support economic growth and market integrity and stability.

Minimum
Proven experience in leading teams to deliver highquality economic analysis in policy regulatory or business settings
Demonstrable ability to convey complex economic insights to senior stakeholders effectively
Advanced degree or equivalent experience working as a professional Economist
Essential
Build productive relationships with key stakeholders in a complex environment
Support and develop a dynamic team with competing priorities
Quickly identify relevant issues and provide focused analysis
Good organisational and time management skills with ability to prioritise to deliver at pace
Clear and confident in both written and verbal communication. Influential and credible to senior decision makers
Able to make reasoned decisions with limited information
Knowledge and experience in analysing capital markets with an understanding of economic productivity growth and competitiveness would be advantageous
