Job Description



The Imaging Department at MGH is one of the largest radiology practices in the country. The StateofArt imaging equipment includes 21 CT scanners 16 Digital Breast Tomosynthesis systems 16 interventional radiology suites and many other imaging devices. The physics division is responsible for acceptance tests annual survey ACR accreditation related tests imaging protocol optimization shielding design patient dosimetry and other physics related tasks. The division is very active in research in CT dosimetry and digital breast tomosynthesis.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities are:

  • Acceptance tests annual survey and ACR accreditation related tests of xray and ultrasound imaging equipment
  • Radiation dosimetry and patient dose monitoring
  • Imaging protocols optimization
  • Research in medical imaging physics.
  • Physics support for research projects initiated by radiologists.
  • Other tasks assigned by the chief physicist.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Handson experience with all xray (CT Mammography Interventional radiology DR CR etc) and ultrasound imaging equipment
  • Excellent skills in experiment design data analysis and results presentation
  • Proficiency in at least one of major programming languages be able to automate clinical and research procedures
  • Excellent communication skills be able to communicate with clinical team effectively and to present the research results in professional conferences and in scientific journals

LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable):

  • ABR certification in diagnostic imaging physics or board eligible. The board eligible candidate must receive the ABR certification in 2 years from the date of hire.

EDUCATION:

  • A Ph.D. in physics medical physics or a related field required

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience after Ph.D. degree is received
