What youll do: The Activities Coordinator will have overall responsibility for the planning implementation assessment and documentation of each individuals activity programs in individual or group settings evening/weekend inhouse activities and recreational community trips. They are responsible for the recreational activities provided by all staff but primarily the DSP staff. The Activities Coordinator functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Please note that Cedar Lake Lodge Park Place and Sycamore Run are Intermediate Care Facilities placing us under the CMS Omnibus COVID19 Health Care Staff Vaccination Interim Rule. Under this rule employees must be vaccinated or have an approved medical or religious exemption prior to employment. - The development implementation monitoring and recording of progress for each individuals recreation program plan with the goal of maximizing each individuals physical emotional and social skills.
- Maintaining records and documenting within each individuals CFA the extent and level of each individuals participation in the activities program. Update each individuals CFA throughout the year including each individuals goals progress and participation in recreational activities.
- Surveying the recreational interests of each individual on a periodic (at least annual) basis.
- Consultation with DSP Staff and individuals as appropriate for the development of appropriate inhouse and leisure time activities and to instruct in the efficient effective and proper use of all recreation equipment supplies and facilities.
- Oversee and supervise the coordination planning and scheduling of recreational outings weekend activities vacation outings special events first and second shift activities etc. Assist with direct supervision of events as appropriate.
- Develop and monitor the annual budget for the Recreation accounts and keep within budget guidelines.
- Attend inservices and IDT meetings as scheduled. Provide Recreation orientation to new staff members.
- Attend staff meetings inservices and individual meetings as scheduled.
- Drive vehicles as necessary to provide transportation for activities. Enforce and maintain safety during all activities including swimming and weightlifting. Maintain compliance with all regulations.
- Creating monthly activities calendars and leading the scheduled group activities.
- Responsible for the proper documentation of participation and responses of offered activities.
- Responsible for summarizing monthly documentation of recreational goals and updating/adjusting supported individuals goals as needed.
- Responsible for communicating with guardians/families of supported individuals on a regular basis and/or as requested.
- Directly oversee the activities provided by the DSPs providing appropriate positive feedback and correction when needed.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
What sets you apart: - High School Diploma/GED is required. Certification as an Activity Professional by the state of Kentucky is preferred.
- The Activities Coordinator shall have at least one year of experience working with persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities or another longterm care setting.
Requisites: - Compassionate understanding of persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to work with individuals of all developmental levels and disabilities.
- Able to work with individuals with behavior support needs. This requires a patient calm and positive attitude. Also requires good physical and mental condition.
- Ability to work as a team member. This requires compromise negotiation and assertiveness skills. Professional and ethical conduct is expected at all times.
- Clean healthy personal hygiene required.
- Ability to adapt to change required.
- Able to meet deadlines and complete work on time.
- Able to lift up to 100 lbs. as needed.
- Able to swim in deep and shallow water.
- Able to be outdoors for several hours at a time.
- Physical strength stamina and flexibility to be able to lift and transfer adult individuals.
- Able to accurately observe and evaluate individual and staff behavior.
- Good language and writing skills.
- Must have a valid drivers license with a record acceptable to Cedar Lake Lodges insurance carrier.
- Experience with Microsoft Word Excel Access Database and Publisher
What your typical schedule looks like: Fulltime 40 hours per week. Requires flexibility to meet individuals needs. Weekends evenings and additional hours are required as necessary.
