Job Description
Lifeguards ensure the safety security and orderliness of an establishments swimming and watersports facilities. They are the first responders to any threats to the safety of patrons. Lifeguards remain vigilant and sometimes use skills in swimming and first aid to rescue patrons in danger.
In the lifeguard role you will inform patrons of the establishments safety protocols and rules and ensure compliance. You will inspect pool facilities to ensure that fixtures and equipment are working properly. Success in this role will be demonstrated by your ability to maintain a safe and fun environment while keeping facility safety risks to a minimum.
Lifeguard Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Identifies potential threats to safety
- Watches over patrons to ensure they are safe
- Rescues patrons in danger of drowning or in need of first aid
- Contacts appropriate persons in case a situation escalates beyond their expertise
- Assists with swimming lessons
- Enforces the facilitys rules
- Maintains a level of physical competence to carry out the job
- Inspects facility and immediately reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to supervisor
