Department:Department of Psychiatry Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center (JDC)
Job Title: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Therapist (Instructor)
Position # Requisition #36559
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care in the Johnson Depression Center Intensive Outpatient Program including group therapy utilizing evidenced based practices including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
- Screen for suicidal ideation and other safety concerns and document clinical interactions in a timely fashion to support clinic operations
- Other duties as assigned.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Provides multiculturally sensitive behavior health assessment triage care management and group psychotherapy
- Collaborate with other mental health faculty and staff in the provision of mental health and wellness care
- Provide clinical documentation for insurance authorization and peer to peer reviews for denials. Chart patient visits using an electronic medical record (EPIC)
- Assist in discharge planning including identifying community placement
- Develop programmatic benchmarks and outcomes of effectiveness
- Participate in quality and performance assessment projects
- Participate in the development of and administration of group programs including skills development experiential activities and mindfulness
- Participate in other programs and service development.
Work Location:
Onsite this role is expected to work onsite at the Johnson Depression Center in Aurora Colorado.

The Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest units in the UCDSOM and is comprises 5 Divisions. The CU Department of Psychiatry sets the standard for Education and Training of leaders in psychiatry and mental health care conducts groundbreaking Research that aims to eradicate suffering due to psychiatric and substance use disorders provides ready access to state oftheart mental health preventions and interventions across the continuum of care and collaborates with the community and other key stakeholders to promote wellbeing among all Coloradans. The Johnson Depression Center clinical team provides patientcentered and evidencebased care aimed to promote wellness in patients. Our dynamic interdisciplinary team of psychologists psychiatrists and social workers work collaboratively with primary care providers and specialists to provide consultative services and problemfocused care for patients with behavioral health concerns.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Instructor
- Minimum degree qualifications: Masters Degree in Social Work or other masterslevel degree in licenseeligible mental health discipline.
- Candidates must have an LPC or LCSW and must hold a Colorado License.
- 13 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
Faculty appointments in the Colorado School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of evidencebased treatments including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Behavioral Activation Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Must have skills in risk assessment including suicide and violence risk assessment.
- Must be willing to generally schedule part time work hours during IOP program operations of Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am12pm.
- Must be comfortable with care management and coordination of care.
- Must be comfortable with group therapy as well as working with families.
- Must be efficient with time management
- Must develop knowledge about stepdown processes and network with community providers.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with all constituencies in the Department of Psychiatry including Departmental Chair Program Directors and administrative staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong clinical judgement
- Demonstration of flexibility and problemsolving
- Professional and personal qualities to work effectively with faculty administrators and patients

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training.
The above salary range or hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
