Position Summary:As a Reinsurance Analyst you will play a crucial role in our accounting team handling complex reinsurance and accounting activities. You will be responsible for maintaining ledger accounts preparing financial statements and developing managerial reports. This position offers the opportunity to work on varied assignments and make a significant impact on our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare general ledger entries and assist in the reconciliation of the subledger to the general ledger.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare various reports for management including but not limited to those regarding facultative treaty and excess of loss coverage for reinsurance programs.
  • Reconcile reinsurer balances to the general ledger and sub ledgers.
  • Interpret and input reinsurance agreements into financial system for use by Underwriting Claims and Accounting departments.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory filings on both a consolidated and company basis.
  • Prepare internal summaries of assumed and ceded business. Compile data for management related to commutations and liquidations.
  • Assist in management review of outgoing Letters of Credit and invoices from banks for related fees.
  • Respond to inquiries from reinsurers/brokers and assists with rating agency responses.
  • Review forms and reports prepared by other team members for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles
  • Possess and have ability to apply knowledge of principles practices and procedures
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality tact and diplomacy
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable of industry changes legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Companys business to proactively respond to changing business environment
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel Access PowerPoint Word)
