Weoperate24 hours a day 7 days a weekand arealways here to support the staffvisitors and vendors. CurrentMedTechbackgrounds range fromNursesto Paramedics toEMTs.
During events attheOregon Convention Center theMedTechsprovide urgent and emergency care by assessing injuries and illnesseswhileworking with external Fire/EMTs as needed. The primary work location for this role will be at the Oregon Convention Center but there are times youmaywork at other Metro venues such as thePortlandExpo Center.
While our Medical Techniciansare required torespond to and provide medicalassistanceduring urgent/emergency incidentsyoullfindthe majority ofour medical calls tend to be nonlife threatening in nature. Medical Technicians also spend a fair amountof timeacting as OCC ambassadors by regularly interacting with the public to answer questions give directions and provide nonmedicalassistance. Successful candidates should be dependable and knowledgeable enjoy interacting with the public and when needed act withan appropriate amountof urgency.
As theMedicalTechnician youwill:
Respond to medical emergencies and provide medicalassistanceto injured or sick persons on facility premises
Monitor and communicatewhen neededtoexternal EMTsregardingailments and medical conditions such as chest pains shortness of breath asthma allergic reaction etc.
Assessnonemergency injuries and illness; provide first aid and medical intervention to persons injured.
Determinethe severity of illness or injury; and initiatecalls to911 as the situation requires.
Maintains first aid/medical supplies and equipment inventory; ensures adequate stock of medical supplies andequipment; processes requests for replenishment of stock as needed.
Ensure medical equipment is in proper working condition; clean and sanitize equipment as needed.
Ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials.
Acts as a resource to injured and sick persons by providing informationwith regard tothe location of urgent clinicshospitals emergency rooms etc. for further evaluation.
Completes documentation and reports.
Perform workin accordance withestablished protocols policiespractices and procedures of the department.
Provideexcellentcustomer service to attendees and employeeswhen not responding to an urgent or emergent situation.
Dispense overthecounter medications upon request.
Performadditionaltasks as needed to contribute to the departments success.

Ability to learn purposebuilt computer programs including video management software report writing systems dispatching and computeraided dispatching user interfaces.
Ability to read and follow building floor plans policies procedures protocolsdirectives and briefings.
Ability to provide professional wellarticulated feedback for managers and coworkers.
Ability toremaincalm and professional in emergency situations while coordinating a response.
Ability to run over 1/3rdof a mile on both incline and decline terrain (including stairs) during an emergency incident.
Ability to work dayshiftswing shift nightshift weekendsholidays and urgent requests as needed.

MinimumQualifications
Current and valid certification as an Emergency Medical TechnicianAND
Current and valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or BLS certificationAND
A minimum of two 2 years of experience in emergency medical response or an equivalent combination of education experience and training that would provide the knowledge skills and abilitiesfor the successful performance of the essential job duties.
Note:A physical assessment which simulates the essential job tasks for this position will be administered to all applicant finalists for any Department of Public Safety position. Offers of hire will be made contingent upon successful completion of the assessment.
Required Qualifications:
Has current EMTAEMT or Paramedic certification
Has current BLS (or equivalent certification
Has the ability to pass the Human Performance Test (HPE)which simulates the essential job tasks for this positionand Metro Background check.Note:Offers of hire will be made contingent upon successful results of this assessment.
4160hoursof professional workor relatedinternship/volunteer experience.
Working Conditions:
The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) Medical Technician works in both indoor and outdoor environments often exposed to varying weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. The role requires prolonged periods of standing walking and occasional running as well as physical activities such as crawling kneeling and climbing. Candidates should be prepared for physically demanding tasks while maintaining a high level of awareness and responsiveness in dynamic situations.

COMPENSATION BENEFITS AND REPRESENTATION
