Job Description
- Looking for interpreters in the following languages:Greek Korean Nepalese Swahili Italian Tigrinya French Khmer Polish Somali Rohingya*
- This is a freelance work (contractor)
- Number of hours of work depends on clients assignments
- Interpretation is through video phone and in person
- Client needs to be fluent in English and the other language*
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide realtime interpretation during meetings conferences medical appointments legal proceedings or other professional settings.
- Ensure accuracy neutrality and confidentiality in all interpretations.
- Adapt messaging to reflect cultural nuances and context appropriately.
- Assist in bridging language gaps between clients employees or community members.
- Maintain professional standards and ethical guidelines for interpretation.
- Stay updated on industryspecific terminology and best practices.
- Use technology such as interpretation software or headsets to facilitate communication when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bilingual (spoken and written).
Proven experience as an interpreter an asset.
Strong listening memory and concentration skills.
Ability to remain neutral and interpret accurately without personal bias.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with interpretation techniques including simultaneous and consecutive interpreting.
Knowledge of industryspecific terminology (e.g. medical legal business) is a plus.
High level of professionalism confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
Certification in interpretation is a plus but not required (will be provided).
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in fastpaced settings and manage multiple assignments.
May require travel to client sites hospitals courts or other locations.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
