Job Description

Dates of assignment:school year (annual appointment)

Qualifications include but are not limited to teaching experience specialized training demonstrated ability to work with peers and supervisors and the demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct students in relation to the posted position. Additional qualifications as follows:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a New York State Certification for (all grades 58 in any Core Area or New York State Certification for (all grades 58 in Special Education

ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide academic support to students (will be providing support before during and after school)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teachers staff and peers
  • Demonstrated ability to work with supervisors
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct students in developing problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated evidence of incorporating differentiated instruction
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective communication skills both written and oral
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective interpersonal skills with students faculty support staff and parents
  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge of NYS Standards
  • Demonstrated evidence of a knowledge of technology and its application with regard to student learning
  • Demonstrated evidence of a proven ability to effectively organize and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrated evidence of a proficiency with curriculum adaptation and modification
  • Demonstrated evidence of an ability to reflect and contemplate on ones teaching allowing for growth and excellence.

ESSENTIAL CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support and assistance to students across academic content areas.
  • Assist instructional staff with implementing and enhancing the Districts curriculum and programs.
  • Plan and work collaboratively with teachers in a variety of settings including oneonone small groups grade level meetings study groups workshops and faculty/staff meetings.
  • Contribute to and support a Districtwide effort to further develop a reflective learning community that engages in researchbased highyield instructional practices.
  • Serve as a resource to classroom special area teachers and staff who support students.
  • Assist in the gathering and analysis of data to identify studentfocused goal(s) based on areas of need; Maintain records and provide updates as required.
  • Debrief and provide feedback on instruction/student learning to facilitate teacher reflection and to identify/set goals and next steps;
  • Build the capacity of teachers to support and facilitate the learning of their colleagues;
  • Facilitate parent information sessions and/or develop parent resources;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth through participation in professional learning.
  • Collaborate with building and district administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and attend required trainings.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Experience with supporting students in a variety of settings
  • Experience teaching in a learning lab setting

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction

SALARY: $41040 $52800 (Per WTA Contract)

Additionally 1/200 for up to 10 days between last student day and first student day. Other

days and/or additional time as determined by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.

This is a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) position.

WORK CALENDAR: The teacher work year plus up to ten days.
