Job Description Summary
The Department of Sociology Anthropology Social Work & Criminal Justice invites applications for a fulltime Special Instructor/ BSW Program Director position to begin September of 2019. We are looking for candidates who have the interest and skills to oversee a generalist BSW program in addition to teaching courses across the curriculum including HBSE social welfare policy and generalist practice courses. Oakland Universitys Social Work program values diversity and issues related to social justice therefore we are seeking a candidate who is wellequipped to infuse diversity and related advocacy content in teaching administrative and service activities. Required Qualifications include a MSW from an accredited social work program & 2 years post MSW practice experience. Desired Qualifications include a PhD in Social Work or a related field by August 2019; 35 years of experience with administrative work in a social work program or department; experience with CSWE accreditation and reaffirmation processes; experience as a director in a social work program or department. Job Duties: Academic Affairs: Direct efforts to achieve and retain external accreditation CSWE for the Bachelor of Social Work Program; provide leadership in developing planning implementing and evaluating the social work curriculum to meet both Oakland University and Council on Social Work Education standards; represent the Bachelor of Social Work Program in University committees task forces and special projects; facilitate the development implement and oversee all program policies and procedures; approve all social work transfer credits; provide leadership in establishing articulation agreements. Financial and Physical Resources: Serve as the financial agent for the program to acquire allocate and utilize funds and resources for the advancement of the program within university policies and procedures. Academic Program Governance: Provide leadership for the program stakeholders in obtaining and maintaining Council on Social Work Education accreditation; facilitate the development of the programs curriculum scheduling and course offerings; approve and oversee any program development and expansion efforts including off campus course offerings and partnerships between the program and other academic institutions; perform all program assessment activities; provide daytoday administrative oversight and supervision of the Bachelor of Social Work program; provide leadership to OU BSWs program external partnership (Child Welfare Endorsement MI Talent Connect Project MI Pathway Project). Student Affairs: Oversee all decisions and actions pertaining to the disciplining and/or dismissal of social work students; oversee and approve all programbased student activities including recruitment admissions activities advising degree and licensing verification; create and maintain opportunities for student involvement and engagement in the furtherance of the Programs operations and improvement. Faculty and Staff Resources: In consultation with the Chair of the department university administration and appropriate university committees participate in all personnel matters pertaining to the department including scheduling recruitment hiring retention and promotion salary and professional development opportunities; prepare and orient new parttime faculty. Marketing and Community: Recommend and/or approve communication changes to all program materials; serve as the point person for OUs BSW social media; communicate regularly with students; make/suggest website changes. Service: Contribute to the service requirements and expectations of the program/department and university.
