Responsibilities
The primary goal is satisfying customer requirements of quality quantity and delivery in a safe manner while maximizing productivity. Specifically theJob Shop Supervisoris responsible for leadingmultiple departmentson all job activities required to support production processes. TheJob Shop Supervisorwill have direct contact with employees and supervisors for proper instruction. These activities include but are not limited to: Supervising assigned departmentsof 1025leads and employees. Maintaining the overall management of the assigned department including all aspects of current operation to assure acceptable safety housekeeping quality productivity employee conduct and performance criteria are achieved.
Other responsibilities:
- Training instructingevaluatingand supervising employees using established production methods to produce a quality product in a safe and timely manner to meet production demands
- Read and understandblue prints engineered drawingswelding symbolsand/or verbal and written instructions to accurately distribute daily assignments
- Organize workloads and determine priorities based on the production schedule
- Establish employee environment regarding communicationsfeedbackand overall guidance
- Ensures that assigned personnel have appropriate work instruction and tools to successfully do their job
- Troubleshoot workmanship problems and supervise production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements
- Monitor all activity of department shop floor giving hands on assistance as needed
- Issue purchase requisitions and communicate with vendors for department related needs
- Reconcile and approve truck invoices and company credit card purchases within departments
- Responsible for interviewing candidates with HR training terminatingdiscipliningand coaching employees
- Attend scheduled meetings and collaborate ideas and decisions with team members
- Maintain proper documentation and reports of all issues and activities
- Follow and enforce all plant safety guidelinespracticesand procedures. Also be aware of activity in the work surroundings and maintain a clean and safe work area
- Schedule evaluate and approve employee hours and vacation time
- Properly use personal protective equipment when required
- Maintain regular attendance have reliable means of transportation
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Prior manufacturing experience is necessary. Any technical or vocational education/training in relation to skills listed below is also desirable.
- Must have advanced blueprint reading knowledge
- Computer knowledge Must be proficient in MS Office (SAP experience preferred)
- Knowledge of machine operation cutting sawing drilling and grinding parts is desirable
- Skilled and able to usebasictools
- ForkliftOverhead crane shop vehicles and machineexperience preferred (inhouse training available)
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
- Team player must be able to work with others and manage the department
- Must have and maintain a high sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure to meet and exceed all production goals
- Able to demonstrate good organizational skills following policiesproceduresand work practices and developing improvements where necessary
- Able to motivate employees to achieve results. Must be a good communicator able to give instructions in an efficient and effective way to the work force
- Physically capable of standing walking bending pushing pullingreachingand twisting throughout shift
- Capable of repetitively lifting 2550 lbs.
- Candidates must be flexible to work overtime as needed which may include weekends and/or holidays
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job the employee works in typical manufacturing environment with overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Overhead LED lights throughout the workspace create a bright workspace for employees to safely perform their work.
- Normally clean work environment where the process creates somegrinding dust heat/cold fumes/odorsandvibration.Housekeeping is performed as needed throughout the day and at the end of each shift.
- The noise level in the work environmentis normal to manufacturing processes with air tools grinders and other tools. Yearly audiometric testing is provided by the company to monitor areas for improvement.
- Nonclimatecontrolled facility in the summer each work area is provided with fans to help keep cool. In the winter it is heated.
Educationand Experience
Bachelors Degree is preferred
MUST HAVESUPERVISORYEXPERIENCE Aminimum10 years of experience in manufacturing to include5 years of supervisory experience (preferably in aWELD SHOPenvironment)
