Job Description
The Vertical Assets Section Manager position will work within the Operations and Technical Services (OTS) Division. This role is essential for driving strategic direction and developing a highperforming team within the Department of Water Resources (DWR). The Vertical Assets section is responsible for providing technical assistance to DWRs operations developing and prioritizing capital projects conducting business case evaluations and supporting applied research efforts. Duties of the OTS Vertical Assets Section Manager include:

Leadership & Supervision:
  • Direct mentor and develop a team of engineers scientist and technical staff within the Vertical Assets section. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for staff development.
  • Cultivate a collaborative and innovative work environment focused on high performance personal growth and professional excellence.
Operational Support:
  • Provide technical expertise and support to DWRs operations in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to vertical assets.
  • Build upon DWRs applied research program to support operational needs collaborating with partner organizations to address industry challenges and provide valuable insights for DWR.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs including preventive and corrective actions for critical vertical assets and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
Asset Management:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of asset management strategies to ensure the reliability safety and efficiency of vertical infrastructure.
  • Monitor process performance and provide recommendations for necessary upgrades or improvements to maintain asset longevity and effectiveness.
Project Development & Oversight:
  • Lead the identification development and prioritization of capital projects related to vertical assets.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope objectives and budgets.
The Vertical Assets Section Manager position requires a forwardthinking professional with a vision for operational excellence and asset reliability. The Vertical Assets section of engineers and scientists within OTS performs these tasks on the Countys vertical assets including water reclamation facilities water production facilities and pump stations. The OTS Division also includes a Linear Infrastructure group that collaborates closely with the Vertical Assets group.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelors Degree in Civil Chemical Mechanical or Environmental Engineering is required; Masters Degree preferred.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible engineering experience which includes two years of experience as a manager and extensive experience in and comprehensive knowledge of water and wastewater processes.
  • Professional Engineers (PE) License (from any State)
  • Valid Georgia Drivers License

Knowledge and Skills
The successful candidate will have strong skills in:
  • Water and wastewater process engineering
  • Plant and pump station hydraulics
  • Engineering design principles and standards
  • Effective communications both written and verbal
  • Project Management
  • Microsoft Office Suite Word Excel PowerPoint Teams
  • Basic field safety
This position is Appointed Grade 108.
