Job Summary
The Technology Specialist in the innovation team plays a crucial role as a technology steward that develops prototypes to drive innovation. This role partners with Architects in Office of Information Technology OIT to gain critical insights into what is possible within the campus landscape while focusing on cuttingedge technology advancements practical implementation and leading innovation sprint teams. This role will collaborate with the innovation team to design and develop innovative solutions assess the feasibility and impact of new technologies and mitigate potential risks. Additionally they will provide technical expertise and guidance ensuring seamless implementation and proper integration of technological solutions with an eye towards the scalability of successful outcomes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prototype Development: Use various tools and technologies to create prototypes solutions. Development of prototypes will be executed in a handson leadership approach that guides focuses and owns outcomes for the assigned sprint teams. In addition rigorous testing to evaluate the feasibility and potential impact of these prototypes will be required. This will include: User testing performance benchmarking and iterative refinement to ensure the prototypes are rigorously evaluated and prepped for scaling. Be the leader of the innovation sprint teams. Evaluate Emerging Technologies Stay updated with the latest advancements by reading industry publications attending conferences participating in webinars and actively looking for opportunities to enhance the universitys innovation capabilities and implement best practices. Conduct thorough research and analysis to determine which technologies align with the universitys goals. Engage with vendors and technology experts to gain deeper insights. Collaborate on Innovative Solutions Engages in regular meetings brainstorming sessions and collaborative workshops for the campus. In addition this role will follow technology trends to assess and evaluate opportunities for innovation. Process involves creating detailed design documents developing proofofconcept models and iterating ideas based on acquired information and team feedback. Risk Identification and Mitigation Developing risk assessments for new technologies and developing contingency plans strategies and proposals to mitigate identified risks is required. This may involve creating detailed risk management plans conducting regular risk reviews and staying vigilant for new risks throughout the prototyping process. Technical Expertise and Guidance Provide technical expertise and guidance on best practices troubleshooting and technical problem solving to team members by conducting training sessions and facilitating knowledge sharing. Training materials will be developed in conjunction with the Business Affairs training team. Implementation Support When prototypes are scaled to full production use their subject matter expertise to troubleshoot issues provide technical support and ensure knowledge transfer is available to project team members. Thus providing ongoing support during a project implementation phase. Performs other duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree or a equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role. Minimum of four 4 years of experience in a related field. Experience with projects requiring collaboration with team members who are not direct reports. Experience assisting strategy discussions and developing goals.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree. Minimum of six 6 years of experience in a related field. Certification in Scrum methodology. Change Management certification(s). Experience developing Enterprise Resource Planning ERP systems or their security. Experience in developing and testing prototypes. Experience working with faculty staff and students. Experience leading small groups with focused tasks.
