Job Description

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Mental Health Clinician II position is to provide clinical assessments individual and group psychotherapy assertive outreach and comprehensive clinical case management services utilizing traumainformed and evidencebased practices effective for the patient population served. The role includes crisis intervention emotional support and shortterm mental health services for individuals impacted by violence trauma and cooccurring mental health and substance use disorders. Services will be delivered in the University Hospital Emergency Department and medical inpatient units as assigned.

Qualifications

Possession of a Masters Degree in Counseling Social Work or Related Field from a professional school accredited by New Jersey state laws governing the discipline or Licensed Psychologist. Two 2 years of postgraduate experience in an outpatient mental health clinical setting required. Must be Licensed Social Worker (LSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Doctorate or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited program by the State of New Jersey. Dual License Clinical and LCADC preferred. Experience working with trauma survivors from underserved populations. Must possess excellent documentation and clinical skills ability to set priorities work independently excellent followup work well under pressure and deadlines. Experience doing case management community outreach. Must be able to move between different treatment approaches (clinical case management and evidencebased traumafocused psychotherapy) depending on the needs of the patient. Demonstrate cultural humility and a strengthsbased recovery philosophy. Excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability. Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidencebased treatments for medical and mental health conditions. Ability to work through brief patient contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions. Should be comfortable with working on an interdisciplinary team and having strong communication skills. Good knowledge of psychopharmacology. Ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment of selected conditions. Computer literate with competence in Microsoft Office Epic and Excel. Excellent communication skills required. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
