Job Description
Job Summary:
The Rollins College Psychology department is seeking a serviceoriented Animal Care Technician to join their team.
- Ensure the health of animals cleanliness of laboratory/procedure rooms and functionality of equipment (routine maintenance)
- Maintain a breeding stock of animals and maintain accurate records
- Provide assistance to students in handling animals
- Procure (orders and picks up) food and supplies for laboratory animals
- Transport animals to veterinarian
- Administer medication to animals
- Euthanize animals
- Maintaining accurate records of numbers and types of animals needed by Departments
Minimum
Qualifications & Education:
- Elementary school education
- Ability to read write and follow basic instructions
- Possess avalid drivers license or ability to obtain a Florida drivers license within 30 days of accepting the job and an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least six months of jobrelated experience.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures in the care of animals
- Ability to handle and provide care to a variety of laboratory animals
- Ability to understand and interpret written and oral instructions
- Ability to maintain records with a high degree of accuracy
Work Schedule:
The Animal Care Technician role is a fulltime12month appointment scheduled to work 28 hours per week.The schedule for this role is:
- Monday Friday 9:00 am 2:30 pm
*Works holidays overtime afternoons and weekends may be required.
Work Environment:
- Works oncampus and in a laboratory.
- Work requires physical strain and with the physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Work requires exposure to noise and odors associated with animals.
