SMTS Systems Design Engineer 1 position) Silicon Validation & Debug Lead:
Adaptive and Embedded Solutions Group
AMD is looking for a Senior Member Technical Staff Development Engineer for the exciting role of platform bringup and full IP validation that enable AMD embedded SOC and CPU based platforms into multiple verticals. You will work closely with Silicon teams and platform bringup teams across multiple vertical engineering teams to qualify the platform for customer use. As part of an experienced engineering group with highlytalented engineers you will help validate the IP specific to embedded customer use cases.
Role & Responsibilities:
- This position will be working directly under the supervision of Hardware Validation and Debug Lead engineer.
- This engineer will be responsible for leading the debug efforts for all relevant X86 IP issues reported by Validation teams
- Debug Platform and CPU / APU bringup issues and issues discovered by validation of IP test plan.
- Debug knowledge on HW Validation of RAS DDR PCIe ECC Ethernet IPs on the APU / CPU
- Debug knowledge on HW validation the interfaces and storage technologies like I2S I2C UART SATA SSD NVMe.
- Work closely with Validation engineers Silicon teams and firmware teams to debug and root cause any silicon issues OR firmware issues.
- Drive for resolution of all blocking issues that are gating the release of the silicon and platforms to customers.
- Support issues that are reported by Field and customer support engineers and guide them to resolve customer issues.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer science with 915 years of relevant experience and strong technical skills. Advanced degree highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong Handson debugging experience with JTAG / Trace32 is required on test equipment like Logic analyzer Oscilloscope and Protocol analyzers.
- Experience in SOC / Platform Bringup and debugging bringup failures.
- Experience in System level Performance & Power Optimization and measurements.
- Experience in writing scripts in ruby or PERL.
- Handson experience related to validating one or more of the following is required.
- X86 Processors & Debug
- High speed Memories like LPDDR3 DDR4 LPDDR4
- High speed peripherals like USB 2.0/3.0 eMMC M.2 SATA NVMe PCIe and Gigabit Ethernet.
- Low Speed peripherals like SPI UART I2C
- Multimedia:
Audio: Soundwire I2S PCM.
Graphics: GPU Video Codecs.
Display: DP HDMI DVI
- Experience working in a multisite environment and ability to travel as needed
