Air Products and Chemicals Inc. (NYSE: APD) a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases is seeking an experienced Instrument and Electrical Technician at our Joliet IL facility.

The Instrument & Electrical Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and electrical equipment. They are also responsible for leading electrical power distribution systems maintenance activities assisting other maintenance personnel in developing inspection/repair scopes and write/update procedures as needed.

The job will entail day to day routine emergency and major maintenance reading and comprehension of circuits/prints/P&IDs/schematics.

Required Skills / Abilities:

• Calibrate manufacturing instrumentation according to procedures.
• Perform routine PMs on manufacturing and building equipment.
• Trouble PLC equipment.
• Assist other maintenance techs with assigned tasks.
• Complete instrument tracking documentation.
• Complete required safety tasks and activities.
• Develop procedures for instrument calibrations and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Support facility operations by completing assigned work orders.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required and willing to take 24hour on call responsibilities.
• This is a safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

Education and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Technical degree and/or completion of an apprenticeship program trade school diploma or certificate is a plus.
• 5 years minimum of industrial maintenance experience working on instrumentation & electrical equipment and calibration in a chemical petrochemical refinery or plastic plant or 3 years minimum of experience with a technical degree.
• Analyzer experience a plus
• SAP knowledge highly desired but not required.
• Applicable military training will be considered equivalent to industrial experience.
• Strong mechanical skills.
• Proficient communication and computer skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and flexibility in job assignments.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and climb ladders.
• Able to work in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in an industrial environment which includes climbing ladders and steps in elevated work get on scaffolding get on manlift type equipment and wear PPE such as full body harness
• Must be able to wear selfcontained and air purifying respiratory protection
• Able to work in confined spaces
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be clean shaven
• Must be willing to work at a tobaccofree facility

Work Hours:

• MF 8 hour shift.
• This position will be working indoors and outdoors.
• This is a plant based position.

Starting pay: $42.83/hr. Actual hourly rate will be determined based on candidates qualifications and year of experience.
