Job Description

Description

Performs a wide range of building and grounds repair lawn maintenance custodial and aquatic operations. Maintains pool filtration systems and keeps records on all repairs and operations.

  1. Clean and maintain all facilities and grounds (pools locker rooms family changing rooms meeting rooms fitness area field house concession stand and grounds including the dog park).
  2. Operate and manage pool systems including performing and recording chemical tests backwashing changing acid barrels manually adding chemicals vacuum emptying skimmer and strainer baskets and maintain water levels.
  3. Cleans repairs and replaces chemical systems replaces pumps seals gaskets/impellers. Clean pool scum lines and stainlesssteel fixtures. Replace grates repair Diamond Brite concrete and tiles.
  4. Open and winterize outdoor pool. Repair rubber matting for pool and playground winterize and unwinterize slides and feature pumps and skimmers Pressure wash pool and deck and Repair and replace playground equipment.
  5. Repair and maintain HVAC equipment. Maintain inspect and keep records on pool pak and detron. Replace filters belts igniters and clean traps and grates.
  6. Repair and replace domestic plumbing fixtures. Clean and replace shower heads shower and lavatory valve cartridges acid clean and replace heating and cooling fill lines remove clogs from fixtures and floor drains rebuild toilet flush valves and unclog toilets.
  7. Performs a variety of landscaping maintenance including mowing mulching planting flowers trees and grass watering fertilizing and spraying and pruning trees and shrubs.
  8. Repairs paints and provides preventative maintenance on furniture fitness equipmentt and other facility equipment including pool vacuums floor scrubbers drinking fountains and door hardware. Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment which may include trucks ground maintenance equipment and power and hand tools.
  9. Maintain and replace lighting in the facility and on the grounds.
  10. Assigning tasks and projects to other maintenance and custodial staff.
  11. Update and/or create maintenance manuals and policies and procedures.
  12. Attends and assists with preseason orientation and periodic staff meetings and training holds and maintains CPO/AFO certification. Responds quickly to all emergency situations operates emergency equipment including AED and radios.
  13. Educates patrons on rules regulations and safety issues. Uses excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with supervisors coworkers and customers.
  14. Has the ability to work with little supervision. Has strong problemsolving skills and is willing to take on special projects as assigned.

INTERNAL POSTING DATES: Friday March 28 through Monday April 7 2025.

PAY RATE: $37000 to $72000 commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Education/Experience: Completion of secondary education (high school or GED) and over one years park or related field experience or semiskilled maintenance and repair experience or two years experience in swimming pools. Plumbing electrical and HVAC work are an essential part of the duties for this position; experience and/or training required. May be required to obtain a pesticide applicators license and obtain a valid Ohio commercial drivers license of the appropriate class and with the appropriate endorsement(s) and an AFO or CPO license and be tested and wear a respirator when working with chemicals within six months of hire.

Language Skills: Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with coworkers on a daily basis; ability to communicate in writing complete forms reports etc.

Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills; add subtract multiply and divide whole numbers fractions and decimals. Working understanding of formulas calculations and mixtures commonly used in swimming pool operations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out instructions deal with problems involving several variables within a familiar context and lead or direct the work activities. Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.

Licensing Registrations: Possession of a valid Ohio drivers license insurable by the Park Districts insurance carrier and ability to conform to the driving standards policy as approved by the Board of Park Commissioners. Must be able to pass a Respirator Fit Test and wear a respirator when working with chemicals. Obtain a pool operators certification and pesticide applicators license within six 6 months of hire.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk talk and hear; operate grounds maintenance and heavy machinery work with hands life use hand tools and drive park vehicles. Use of respirators is required. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to find handle or feel objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms etc. The employee is occasionally required to sit climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch and crawl.

Work Environment: While performing the regular duties of this job the employee regularly works in outsideweather conditions. The employee spends a portion of the time working in a swimming pool environment. Works with chemicals. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Additional Information: May be required to read and interpret sketches in connection with repairs or special projects and diagnose mechanical failure or equipment.
