Southeastern Louisiana Universitys Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability invites applications for the position of LINK and Student Advocacy Coordinator. The Lion Intervention Network (LINK) Coordinator works directly with the University Counseling Center (UCC) as part of a collaborative team serving as a liaison between students and faculty/staff to help students learn coping skills and assist in creating stability in their lives.
Possible duties include providing direct services such as mental health counseling substance abuse assessment and referral case management educational interventions as well as followups with faculty staff and administration pertaining to LINK and OSAA referred students. This position will work as an advocate for students dealing with hardships. It is likely to work with other community resources in achieving student service needs. Additionally this position will be involved in summative and formative evaluation of the services provided as well as ongoing evidencebased program development. This position will require the individual to work in an oncall weekday and weekend rotation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in Counseling from a CACREP accredited institution.
Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Louisiana. The final job offer will be contingent upon licensure in the state of Louisiana.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Oncall providing individual group and family counseling assessments crisis intervention and mental health consultation.
Experience in program development.
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
13 years of higher education experience.
13 years of postgraduation clinical experience.
University counseling experience with an atrisk population.
Proficiency with electronic scheduling and documentation software systems (Titanium and Maxient).
Experience conducting suicidal ideation assessments.
Experience working with individuals with a history of Depression Anxiety and Chronic Suicidal Ideation.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Computer literacy: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint etc. and familiarity with the internet and email communications.
Flexibility: Ability to work independently as a positive member of the team.
Compassion and empathy: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and with mentally or emotionally disabled persons and their families.
Active listening skills: Display excellent listening skills to understand what your clients are sharing and provide the assistance they need.
