Part-Time Upper School Spanish Teacher 2025-26

Ravenscroft is an independent coeducational day school in Raleigh NC with approximately 1250 students in grades PreK12.

We are actively looking to welcome an Upper School Spanish teacher to join our community of educators who actively strives to be diverse equitable and inclusive. Our candidates should demonstrate empathy knowledge and an understanding of the diverse backgrounds in our community; place an importance on genuine and authentic connections with students faculty staff and parents; be able to work collaboratively with team members of diverse backgrounds; and have the capacity to model an attitude of curiosity and a growth mindset.

Reports to: Head of Upper School

Work Hours and Expectations: Parttime approximately 24 hours per week

The successful candidate will be an educator who displays passion for teaching Spanish. The teachers lessons are studentcentered and infused with both theory and practice and they skillfully incorporate technology and creativity. Other responsibilities and competencies include:

• Teaching two to three sections of upper school Spanish
• Demonstrating a passion for the Spanish language and culture
• Demonstrating cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students faculty staff and parents
• Exhibiting excellent teaching skills that demonstrate best practice according to ACTFL proficiency standards
• Designing and delivering lessons that are supportive of Ravenscrofts mission to nurture individual potential and prepare students to thrive in a complex and interdependent world
• Understanding the development of Upper School students and displaying a passion for working with this age group
• Connecting with students challenging them and shifting pedagogical practice to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Teaching 90 in the Target Language
• Utilizing online tools such as Edpuzzle Quizlet Quizizz PearDeck etc.
• Demonstrating effective technology skills including the ability to use Ravenscrofts learning management systems (Canvas and Veracross)
• Writing biweekly updates for students with accommodations
• Experience supporting social emotional learning inside and outside of the classroom; an eagerness and ability to support our Lead From Here curriculum
• Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback adapt to different learners needs and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive World Language department

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education; MA or MEd highly desirable
• Previous teaching experience and experience developing and teaching a proficiencybased curriculum preferred
• Minimum Advanced Low Oral Proficiency in Spanish (ACTFL standards)
