JOB DESCRIPTION: Elementary Instructional Extensions Lead Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Elementary Extensions Program Team Lead is responsible for leading the development and implementation of instructional programming that enhances core curriculum content through both targeted services and classroom enrichment activities. This role requires strong leadership collaboration and expertise in innovative instructional practices. The Team Lead will support both students and educators facilitating professional learning and ensuring effective integration of enrichment activities with academic standards through instruction of elementaryaged students and collaborative work with practicing teachers.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Leadership & Development:

  • Lead the design and implementation of innovative instructional programs aligned with core content standards.
  • Oversee both targeted services and enrichment activities to ensure comprehensive learning experience.
  • Support extension team members in enacting extension programming.

Instruction & Student Engagement:

  • Provide direct instruction to elementary students in extension settings.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages exploration and inquiry.
  • Manage student behavior effectively in various instructional settings.

Collaboration & Scheduling:

  • Work closely with gradelevel teams school administrators and staff to develop effective scheduling structures to ensure access to extension activities.
  • Align programming with schoolwide academic goals and priorities.

Professional Development & Support:

  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities for educators in areas such as placebased education gifted education projectbased learning and instructional innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and support to staff to enhance their ability to deliver highquality enrichment programming.
  • Stay informed on best practices in elementary education enrichment programming and innovative program development.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to use effective communication skills; strong content and pedagogical knowledge; knowledge of education law and regulations; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); knowledge of physiological psychological emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents; ability to lead meetings; and ability to help groups achieve consensus.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Masters Degree; certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement in Elementary Education.

Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience as an elementary teacher.
Spanish language skills strongly preferred.

Applied Experience: Experience in projectbased learning STEM placebased instruction arts integration or similar enrichment areas.

Familiarity with scheduling and program coordination in a school setting.

  • Mental Requirements: read write understand interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy compare compile and coordinate information and records.
  • Additional Work Conditions and Physical Abilities: May require travel to multiple sites.

EVALUATION

  • Evaluation of this position shall be by the Chief Academic Officer.
