Position Info:

  • Current District Employees must apply within 5 days of the position posting date or the position will remain open until filled.

TITLE: Athletic Volunteer

REPORTS TO: Head Coach of the assigned sport

POSITION SUMMARY

An athletic volunteer is defined as a person from the community who contributes his/her services and does not receive compensation for such services. Athletic volunteers work under the direction of the head coach to whom he/she has been assigned or the athletic director.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Comply with all WIAA coaching requirements
  • Completion of Athletic Volunteer application packet
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Concussion management training
  • Background check

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Athletic volunteers are assigned to help the paid coaching staff provide better instructional services to student athletes. They are not assigned to relieve paid coaches of their coaching responsibilities. All athletic volunteers shall be under the direct supervision of a designated paid employee who shall be responsible for their direction.

Athletic Volunteers will:

  • Work under the direction of the head coach at all times
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Display good sportsmanship and conduct themselves is a professional manner
  • Direct all athlete and parent complaints to the head coach
  • Assist the head coach as directed with drills practice planning statistic keeping and other duties as assigned
  • Refer all discipline issues to the head coach

Athletic Volunteers are not authorized to:

  • Hold team practice on their own
  • Make any program decisions
  • Have unsupervised contact with student athletes
  • Check out gear equipment or manage inventory
  • Have keys to district facilities

VOLUNTEER CONDITIONS

The services of an Athletic Volunteer may be terminated at any time by the Athletic Director or building Principal at their sole discretion.

EVALUATION PROCEDURES:

Performance shall be evaluated annually by the head coach. Evaluations will be reviewed by the Athletic Director and kept on file.
