Verifies abstracts and determines the appropriate stroke coding for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in regard to clinical care prehospital care clinical procedures occurrences audit filters demographic data and stroke core measures and PI indicators.
Maintains the Temple Stroke Registry and the Get With the Guidelines Stroke data base in conjunction with the American Heart/Stroke Association. Provides standard and ad hoc reports to support performance improvement projects research outcomes analysis and community outreach. Maintains compliance with all standards for Joint Commission Primary and Comprehensive Stroke Center accreditation and the AHA/ASA. Adheres to all regulatory and accrediting body requirements regarding processing of stroke patient data.

Education
Bachelors Degree (Required)
Masters Degree in Public Health or clinical discipline (Preferred)
Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience
3 Years experience in data management or abstracting. (Required)
General Experience with clinical medicine/neurology stroke classification systems and statistics. (Preferred)
General experience with stroke registry or medical data analysis. (Preferred)

License/Certifications
RHIT Reg Health Information Tech (Preferred) or RRA Reg Records Administrator (Preferred)
