Job Description

Work Readiness Facilitator Summer Youth Employment Program

Reports to: Family Welcome Center and SYEP Coordinator
Location: Education Center 132 32nd Street Brooklyn NY 11232
Status/Hours: Part time seasonal position from May September; 15 hours per week; Flexibility to work mornings afternoons or evening hours
Salary Range: $18.00 per hour $18.00 per hour

Program Description

The Education Center provides adult education and workforce development services to the Brooklyn community offering GED preparation ESOL classes vocational training and workforce development opportunities. The Family Welcome Center (FWC) a part of the Education Center delivers case management wraparound services community arts programs and workshops to support students and families. Additionally the Center oversees the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) offering job training career counseling and paid internships for youth participants.

Position Overview

The Work Readiness Facilitator is responsible for supporting the Summer Youth Employment Program which provides youth with meaningful work experiences and careerreadiness training. This role includes participant recruitment job placement and ongoing mentorship to ensure successful outcomes for both youth and employers. The Facilitator works closely with community partners employers and program staff to develop job opportunities facilitate workforce readiness workshops and monitor program compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment enrollment and orientation of program participants.

  • Support youth in the job placement process matching them with positions that align with their skills and interests.

  • Organize and facilitate careerreadiness workshops including resume building interview preparation and workplace etiquette.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to youth throughout the program to support their professional growth.

  • Build and maintain partnerships with employers to secure diverse job opportunities.

  • Act as a liaison between employers and participants addressing any issues or concerns that arise.

  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure work placements meet program and safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance performance and outcomes.

  • Prepare reports on program activities and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and program policies.

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma. Some college education is preferred.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including youth and employers.

  • Proficiency in computer applications and program management tools.

  • Flexibility to work mornings afternoons or evening hours
