Overview:

This challenging assignment as a Project Engineer is an excellent opportunity to gain experience managing projects in a renewable fuel facility. The positions main role is to provide project leadership and technical direction through all phases of a project from initial develop to successful and safe construction and startup. The position requires the ability to interface with other departments in the plant engineering contractors equipment vendors and construction contractors. The successful candidate will be a selfdirected and motivated individual who has some understanding of project management and the types of equipment that are typical to a refinery or petrochemical plant. This person reports to the Martinez Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Apply project management and engineering skills and knowledge in all phases of projects from conception to closeout.
• Manage multiple projects and assignments in a timely safe and costeffective manner.
• Interact with project team members and key stakeholders to ensure that project scope is clearly defined and meets the requirements of the end users.
• Develop decision support packages (DSPs) for assigned projects which include a projects objective scope schedule benefits/justification options and costs.
• Present DSPs to management to obtain approval and funding.
• Manage and provide direction to engineering contractors.
• Initiate and participate in management of change (MOC) reviews for applicable projects.
• Review design drawings construction packages and specifications and coordinate input from stakeholders.
• Participate in technical reviews with operations construction engineering firms and equipment suppliers.
• Ensure assigned projects comply with all applicable Marathon and other refining industry specifications and standards.
• Collaborate with project controls for project scheduling estimating cost management and monthly updates to the cost forecast.
• Coordinate with procurement in development of contracting plan including engineering services and equipment sourcing.
• Maintain accurate and current project documentation.
• Support construction and commissioning of assigned projects through field walks responding to RFI and approving installations before turning over to operations.
• Provide documentation and support to Operations and Maintenance department so they can develop startup manuals operating and maintenance procedures and equipment training.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Civil Chemical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• 35 years post degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry is preferred.

This position due to its work location is eligible to receive a Geographic Pay Premium.
