Job Description

POSITION: CTE Early Childhood Education Preschool Director

LOCATION: Vista Grande High School / Casa Grande Union High School

REPORTS TO: Principal and CTE Director

JOB GOAL:

  • To ensure and provide a safe healthy and developmentally appropriate learning environment for approximately 20 preschool children ages 35. Director is also responsible for maintaining childcare center food handling/preparation and standards of high quality and improvement requirements as set forth by the appropriate State of Arizona licensing and regulating agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualificationsto perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required to be successful:

  • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education PREFERRED
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education MINIMUM
  • The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential Preferred
  • 12 months of experience in an Early Childhood Center and/or Career and Technical Education preschool settings PREFERRED
  • Experience in working with Local and State Governmental Entities PREFERRED
  • Experience in working withFirst Things FirstQuality First(Arizonas Quality and Improvement Rating Systemas well asArizona Department of Health Services licensing agencies for childcare centers and food handler certificates) PREFERRED
  • Understanding of ECE professional organizations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in team atmospheres or independently
  • Solid mathematical organization and communication skills
  • Demonstrates organizational and problem solving ability

Skills:

  • Supervision This preschool is connected to a high school CTE program and provdies a workbased learning opportunity for high school students. Ensure lead teacher high school students and preschool children are supervised.
  • Billing/Collection/Budgeting Create procedures to track weekly tuition collection implement procedures for delinquent accounts bill subsidy and food reimbursement entities for expense reimbursements. Follow district policies and procedures.
  • Planning Preschool Meals/Snacks Plan healthy nutritious balanced meals/snacks for children.
  • Purchase Supplies Assess the needs of the center and organize a shopping protocol for purchasing supplies in a timely fashion.
  • Assist Staff and Students in Child Behavior Guidance Model positive child guidance procedures and techniques to staff and high school students and preschoolers.
  • Knowledge about First Things First Quality First (FTF QF) Assessment Tools and Arizona Childcare Centers and Food Handling Licensing RequirementsImplement all requirements within the Preschool environments to ensure continuation of licensing and compliance.
  • Understand The Master Teacher and other industry credential requirements.
  • Problem Solving Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in individual and group problem solving situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervision duties include approval of staffs developmentally appropriate lesson plans insuring the implementation of approved lesson plans are followed scheduling staff/student aides for classroom coverage as set forth by Arizona licensing agencies and acting as a substitute if/when needed.
  • Maintain professional relationships with the high school students. Keep conversations appropriate and remember they are students. Teach students to communicate with others in a professional manner including how to answer the phone respond to the children and families and communication amongst themselves.
  • Set up procedures to keep track of weekly tuition payments. Maintain logs of all incoming checks/monies for the center. Prepares weekly deposits and submit to bookstore for deposit. Notify parent weekly of any uncollected and/or late tuition. Notify ECE teacher and CTE Director of problems with collections.
  • Prepare weekly menus by following theArizona Department of Health Services ADHSandChild and Adult Care Food Programs(CACFP
  • Perform necessary grocery and supply shopping in advance for weekly operation of the center.
  • Maintain accurate records. Notify supervising ECE teacher in a timely manner of broken toys or equipment so that replacements can be purchase.
  • Provides instruction on positive guidance practices to staff and high school student workers on how to deal with improper behaviors that might be exhibited by a child in their care.
  • Support and facilitate high school students in their effort to attain the necessary industry credentials and documentation.
  • Implement all licensing requirements for childcare centers food preparation and FTFQF programs. Responsible for keeping all employee student aide and childrens files current in compliance for licensing.
  • Create processes for staff and students to follow to ensure policies and procedures are met.
  • Participates in all grant and licensing inspections and assessments. Train and educate staff and high school students about Arizona Childcare and Food Service licensing requirements as well as FTF QF Assessment Tools and how they impact the Star Rating for the preschool as well as the funding and available scholarships for the children.
  • Create positive working relationship with childrens family high school student workers and center staff.
  • Provide feedback to the supervising ECE teacher regarding any concerns or needs for the center.
  • Works closely with supervising ECE teacher in meeting the needs of Federal State and local reports and requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Traveling is required for this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • 186 Days Position will follow the CGUHSD Academic Calendar with the preschool operating MidAugust to MidMay.
  • Placement on Exempt Salary schedule dependent on education and experience.
  • This is a contracted position
  • This position is paid based on number of participants in the program
  • Must pass Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint clearance check
  • Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa (if necessary) will be needed for fingerprint clearance card and I9 documentation prior to first day of work.

EVALUATION:

  • Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel (including feedback the direct supervising ECE teacher).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to safely lift children that are up to thirty pounds
  • Kneel stoop and bend to childrens level
  • Sit on floor and various child sized chairs
  • Stand for lengthy periods of time
  • Able to withstand periods of time in the sun and heat outside

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:

  • Proof of Mumps Measles and Rubella (MMR) vaccination.
  • Clear TB skin test
  • Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
  • Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications *official transcripts will be due upon job offer*

* Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation word for word by an acceptable translator. Additionally each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
