POSITION: Head Cook
RESPONSIBLE TO: Food Service Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To prepare and serve food in an acceptable manner and to complete needed
paperwork as required for the LH Food Service Program

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to two years related experience
- Must posses or have the ability to possess a ServSafe certification (Level II training)
- Required to lift carry push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
- Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the ordering of necessary food and/or supplies required for the planned menu and/or activities of the Licking Heights Food Service Department.
- Prepare food according to tested recipes and/or directions ensuring proper cooking times and temperature are followed.
- Ensure correct portions are served according to the meal production sheet to all customers in an atmosphere of efficiency cleanliness and friendliness.
- Ensure that all employees understand what makes a reimbursable meal per the NSLP.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen serving area and all food service equipment.
- Prioritize tasks in a way that makes the kitchen run smoothly and efficiently and assign such tasks as needed to servers and cashiers.
- Provide direction through delegation to server/helpers and cashier/helpers to ensure all necessary tasks and activities are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Compare invoices of deliveries when they come in to ensure that items received matches items ordered then put stock away making sure it is rotated as necessary.
- Report all menu changes immediately to the Food Service Director the building clinic and the building front office secretary.
- Assist with clean up after meal service including items such as wiping off work surfaces door/drawer handles washing dishes to include pots and pans.
- After lunch is completed instruct servers/helpers to complete any preparation work necessary for the next day.
- Complete the daily production records under the guidance of the Food Service Director according to the specifications of the NSLP.
- Submit all production sheets temperature logs invoices time sheets and any other required paperwork to the Food Service Director in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the completion of the monthly inventory report and submit it to the Food Service Director one week before the last day of the month.
- Ensure that all employees are aware of the procedures for fire drills lockdowns and evacuation drills as well as the location of the HAACP book to be in compliance with County Health Department standards.
- Ensure that all mandatory posters and licenses are displayed according to state guidelines.
- With the assistance of the Food Service Director or secretary train new employees or pair them with existing employees in the same job description to be trained.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director as pertains to job goals.

EVALUATION: Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated by the Food Service Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Boards policy.
