Job Description

We are looking for a UPI Subject Matter Expert with 57 years of experience in the payments industry. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment processing regulatory compliance and industry best practices. This role requires collaboration with product technology compliance and business teams to drive innovation and ensure seamless UPI integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for UPI payments including transactions reconciliation dispute management and fraud prevention.

  • Lead endtoend implementation of UPI solutions for banking and fintech partners.

  • Ensure compliance with NPCI regulations RBI guidelines and industry standards.

  • Work closely with engineering and product teams to optimize UPI architecture API performance and security protocols.

  • Analyze UPI transaction data and suggest enhancements for scalability and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop UPIbased payment strategies and new product innovations.

  • Stay updated with the latest UPI trends NPCI circulars and emerging technologies in digital payments.

  • Manage and resolve technical or operational issues related to UPI implementations.



Requirements

Persona:Product Manager or Solution Architect

Must Have Skills (Non Negotiable Core Competencies):Expertise with UPI (Primary: Issuer Acquirer Merchant; Secondary: Reconciliation Operations) NPCI Regulations

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 57 years of experience in digital payments banking or fintech with 3 years in UPI domain.

  • Strong knowledge of UPI architecture APIs PSPs TPAPs and merchant integrations.

  • Handson experience with NPCI compliance ISO 20022 payment gateways and fraud management.

  • Expertise in UPI mandate autopay UPI 2.0/3.0 tokenization and digital wallets.

  • Understanding of security standards (PCI DSS encryption tokenization) for payments.

  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to coordinate between business product and tech teams.

  • Prior experience working with banks fintech firms or payment aggregators is a plus.

  • Excellent problemsolving analytical and communication skills.

Explanation of key terms for better understanding:

  • Issuer The bank that issues a payment instrument (card UPI ID etc. to the customer. Example: If you use an HDFC debit card HDFC is the issuer.

  • Acquirer The bank or entity that processes payments on behalf of the merchant. Example: A store using ICICIs POS machine has ICICI as the acquirer.

  • Merchant The business accepting payments via cards UPI or other digital methods.

  • Reconciliation The process of matching transactions across multiple records (bank statements merchant records payment processor logs) to ensure accuracy and detect discrepancies.

  • Operations Daytoday activities ensuring smooth transactions including settlement chargebacks fraud monitoring and compliance.


Good to Have Skills: Secondary: Reconciliation Operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with NPCI certification processes for UPI integrations.

  • Understanding of AI/MLdriven fraud prevention in digital payments.

  • Experience working with cloudbased payment infrastructure.
