Job Description

Position: Project EngineerCivil
Location: Chennai

The Manager Construction & Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and managing construction renovation repair and maintenance projects within the academic institution. This role ensures that all projects are completed on time within budget and to the required quality standards.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Plan coordinate and oversee all phases of construction renovation repair and maintenance projects.
  • Develop project timelines budgets and resource plans.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

DESIGNING AND PLANNING

  • Review project drawings specifications and derive cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes regulations and standards.

CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION

  • Oversee construction activities ensuring work is carried out according to plans and specifications.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work.
  • Resolve any issues or problems that arise during construction.

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

  • Develop and implement maintenance and repair schedules for campus facilities.
  • Coordinate and oversee repair and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all facilities are kept in good condition that meet safety standards.

SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure all construction and maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols on all project sites.

STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION

  • Communicate regularly with academic staff administration and other stakeholders regarding project status and updates.
  • Address any concerns or requests from stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and present project reports to senior management.

DOCUMENTATION & SCHEDULING

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate project documentation including daily logs progress reports and change orders.
  • Ensure all records are properly filed and accessible.


Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 25 years of experience in construction project management or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of construction methods materials and regulations.
Excellent project management skills including budgeting scheduling and resource allocation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in project management software and other relevant tools.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
