Job Description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:The Multilingual Learner (MLL) Tutor is responsible for providing MLL tutoring services to students guiding and assisting with a range of activities to facilitate student learning and understanding by supporting English language development in alignment with WIDA standards and Come Core academic standards. EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Tutor students individually or in a scheduled group using evidencebased strategies to support language acquisition and literacy developmentSupport MLL students in developing English language proficiency skills in the domains of speaking listening reading and writingAssist in developing English language proficiency skillsCollaborate with classroom teachers and MLL specialists to ensure all tutoring needs are metPerforms other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS:Bachelors degreeExpert in MLL instruction curriculum and program developmentKnowledge of tutoring/learning materials and instructional aidesExpert in working with various groups of students and understanding learning stylesAbility to relate to a diverse population of studentsStrong communication skillsAbility to work effectively independently while contributing to the teamOrganized and preparedAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and supervisorsProficient in basic computer programsTHIS JOB SPECIFICATION SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED TO IMPLY THAT THESE REQUIREMENTS ARE THE EXCLUSIVE STANDARDS OF THE POSITION.
