Job Highlights
Youth Apprentices in the Medical Assistant pathway work closely with a nursing care team to provide direct patient care and complete office tasks in one of SSMs outpatient clinics. Availability to work days during a standard work week is crucial to fulfilling the 450 hour requirement. A licensed or certified professional will serve as your mentor and will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role.
Job Details
Effectively work as part of a team communicate effectively with close attention to details
Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program
Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors school staff parent(s) or guardian(s) and employer
Assist with treatment order from provider with direct supervision from a licensed professional
Interview patients and record information as instructed
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations
Perform office tasks such as answering phones maintaining records and filing
Assist with the ordering and stocking of supplies and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
High school junior or senior
16 years of age
Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with your local school criteria
Ability to work 1015 hours per week at a clinic site MF during the day
Reliable transportation to get to and from work
Satisfactory progress towards graduation
Commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite
Demonstrated maturity and responsibility
Skill with attending to details excellent attendance and a strong work ethic
Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication
