We are seeking to recruit an Adventure Outreach instructorto join our team our team at Gowanbank.

This is a newly created role to inspire and empower young people particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds through outdoor experiences that cultivate personal growth resilience and explore faith. We deliver engaging activity days school residentials and innovative events creating environments where young people can discover explore respond and flourish in their faith.

Purpose:

Reporting to the Centre Director the Adventure Outreach Instructor will be responsible for delivering activity days school residentials SU Holidays and new events for young people with a focus on those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Fostering partnerships with charities local authorities and other organisations to expand outreach opportunities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiday residential programmes for schools particularly those serving disadvantaged communities
  • Identify and build partnerships with existing and new youth work and community groups.
  • Engage with schools charities and community groups to identify young people in need of support.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities and other organisations to expand outreach and referral opportunities.
  • Organise and deliver engaging oneday outdoor activity sessions blending adventure team building and faithbased discussions.

Who we are looking for :

You will be passionate about and have experience working with children and young people particularly those from disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds. You will possess at least 2 NGB qualifications and have a solid track record of delivering outdoor activities and residential programmes fostering safe and supportive environments for personal and spiritual growth.

For this post it is important that you are committed to SU Scotlands ethos working principles and vision and can demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act part 1 schedule 9 that the postholder is a committed Christian.


Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
