POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program director the ideal candidate for this fulltime 9 month core faculty position will exhibit a passion for educating the future PTAs enrolled in the PTA program. Successful candidates will be innovative collaborative and supportive individuals who demonstrate their dedication to the physical therapy profession. The individual will display a desire to learn or improve their classroom and lab instruction student assessment student advisement as well as course and curriculum development. This position is responsible for clinic visits as assigned by the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education and coordination organization and oversite of the PTA lab schedules and supplies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and service to the community and the PT profession.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

In this role the faculty member is responsible for the following:

Course and Curriculum Development:

  • Selects texts supplemental documents supplies and other learning resources including Open Educational Resources (OER); develop supplemental instructional materials; use current technology in preparation creation and delivery of instruction.
  • Creates and revises of courses and/or curricula as needed.
  • Maintains updated course syllabithat provide organized expectations for learning and academic achievement that are clearly documented in each course syllabus and clearly communicates those expectations to students
  • Collaborates and communicates with other PTA faculty to provide unified and consistent instruction in laboratory classes.
  • Models professional behavior to include the best scholarly and ethical standards.
  • Maintains accurate academic and professional records and reports in a timely fashion.
  • Provides additional academic assistance and advisement of PTA students as need to promote success in the program.

Professional Growth:

  • Remains current within the field of assigned instruction.
  • Supports the physical therapy profession and the professions national state and / or district efforts.
  • Acquires maintains and applies knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials
  • Attends scheduled college divisional and departmental professional development and inservice activities and participate in the annual faculty evaluation process
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and preparation related to best practices associated with pedagogy andragogy and all instructional teaching modalities to address anticipated student and instructional delivery needs.
  • Maintains active and unrestricted PT or PTA license.

Service to Students:

  • Creates an academic environment that is open and encouraging to all students and espect

the rights of students and access to educational opportunities

  • Assists in recruitment selection orientation and evaluation of potential students
  • Supports student activitiesincluding the PTA club serving as the faculty liaison.

Service to the College and Community:

  • Participates in accreditation processes.
    • Supports and participates in college/division/program committees organizations and/or task force groups
  • Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with colleagues
    • Strengthens relationships between the college and the community through community outreach activities
  • Attends required college division and department meetings

Holistic Student Support

  • Is familiar with holistic support for students outside the classroom. These supports include Admissions and Records Enrollment Service Center Career Services Student Support Center Tutoring Services Student Conduct Student Life Student Health Clinic Tiger Cupboard Helping Hands Fund Campus Police and the Center for Access and Disability Services
  • Ensures these services are accessible and responsive to diverse student needs.
  • Promote support and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts

Fiscal Stewardship

  • Supports the responsible fiscal stewardship of the funds allocated to the Nursing and Allied Health Division
  • Adheres to all Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies relative to financial governance.

Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PT or PTA with a minimum of 3 years of fulltime postlicensure clinical experience in physical therapy
  • Unrestricted PT of PTA license in any United States Jurisdiction and are compliant with the Tennessee state practice act.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Current employment in the field of physical therapy as a clinician
  • Prior classroom teaching experience
  • Experience as a clinical instructor

Projected Salary Range:

Instructor: $40502 $49610

Assistant Professor: $45040 $56300
