We are seeking a highly driven and adaptableCorporate Counselto oversee Archives legal and compliance function. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance managing contracts mitigating risks and providing strategic legal advice to support Archives growth. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the legal foundation of a rapidly scaling company at the forefront of branded resale.

Key Responsibilities

    • Legal Compliance: Ensure the companys operations and activities comply with all relevant laws and regulations in the US and all regions where Archive operates. Promote legal compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company. Create monitor and update the Terms of Use and Privacy Policies across our whitelabeled sites as necessary
    • Contract Management: Draft review and negotiate a wide range of contracts including partnership agreements vendor contracts and licensing agreements. Work with Archives brandfacing functions in brand negotiations.
    • Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them providing proactive advice to the leadership team. Provide advice to Archives leaders and staff on a variety of legal topics that relate to our resale ecommerce consumer protections privacy tax and other business relevant areas.
    • Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate governance matters including board meetings corporate policies and compliance with corporate laws. Identify and work with external counsel to support expansion into new geographies determining the legal and registration requirements to set up and conduct business abroad
    • Intellectual Property: Manage and protect the companys intellectual property portfolio including trademarks patents and copyrights.
    • Employment Law: Provide guidance on employmentrelated legal issues including hiring practices employee relations and compliance with labor laws.
    • Dispute Resolution: Oversee and manage any litigation or disputes involving the company working with external counsel as necessary.

Experience & Skills

    • 47 years proven legal experience in a business environment such as working within a law firm or a corporation preferably with experience in technology where a variety of legal topics were part of regular work including corporate contract intellectual property privacy and/or tax laws
    • Experience with local and international privacy laws and regulations in the context of technology and/or ecommerce companies including GDPR CCPA etc. especially with respect to ecommerce marketplaces online consumer experience and/or product building
    • Prior experience at a growing startup is a plus
    • BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree
    • Strong record of providing solutionfocused advice

    • You work well with crossfunctional teams providing legal guidance that supports business objectives.
    • You take initiative and can work independently managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • You are missiondriven and love the fact that the better we do as a company the less waste well see in the world
$160000 $210000 a year
The expected annual base salary range for this position is between $160K and $210K. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but arent limited to) role level skills and competencies qualifications knowledge and experience. In addition to base pay certain roles are eligible for equity as well and all employees are eligible for a full benefits package including employee and dependent healthcare and 401(k) enrollment.

Our team of over 50 employees is currently remotefirst with an office in NYC and optional inperson work for those located in the area. We have company offsites twice a year to bring the full team together in person and occasional travel is expected as part of the job.
