Job Description Summary
The Early Childhood Education area in the Department of Human Development and Child Studies HDCS at Oakland University invites applications for a tenuretrack faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in August 2025. We are especially interested in a candidate with expertise in early intervention/early childhood special education. Responsibilities include teaching mentoring and supervising undergraduate and graduate students; advising Ph.D. research; conducting scholarship in child development early childhood education or related fields; providing service to the department school and university as well as contributing to Oakland Universitys mission for community partnerships and engagement. Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications An earned research doctorate in Early Childhood Education Early Childhood Special Education/Early Intervention Child Development Human Development Developmental Science Developmental Psychology or a related field by the time of appointment; Evidence of active and ongoing scholarly activities (peerreviewed publications and local national or international research conference presentations in the past 5 years); Evidence of successful teaching in child development related course(s) at undergraduate and/or graduate level; Good command of educational technology; experience with online asynchronous and hybrid teaching; Evidence of scholarship that complements the research interests of current faculty; Experience working with children ages 08 in a classroom setting early intervention or home visiting; Passion for mentoring preservice and inservice teachers as well as supervising Ph.D.level research. Demonstrated ability to incorporate diversity educational equity inclusion and antiracist pedagogy into their scholarship teaching and service; Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualification: Two years of experience teaching in Infant/Toddler PreKindergarten or K3 classrooms Two years of experience in inclusive Early Intervention & Early Childhood Special Education programs.
